Genshin Kan dojo was named by the president of the Dai Nippon Butoku Kai (DNBK), Tesshin Hamada, hanshi. “Gen means deep and subtle learning and can also be a reference to implicit spirituality. Shin means heart and soul and Kan is a place or hall. Tesshin Hamada hopes that Genshin Kan will be a Budo dojo where students will do more than develop their physical skills, that the the practice of Budo will also help the student develop their own spirituality and discipline.”

Our Dojo Mon (or logo) is a dancing crane Tsuba (sword guard). We use this with approval from Hamada Hanshi to continue the link with our Sensei, Allan Tattersall Hanshi, who’s UK Ju Jitsu Association had a dancing crane logo. We train in the form of jujustu that Tattersall Hanshi taught called Myo Shin Ryu jujutsu. This means "Bright with the essence of true technique."
