Iaijutsu is "the art of drawing the sword" and involves the use of an Iaito (a blunt practice sword, used in place of a Katana). This is learnt primarily using Katas, which are a sequence of movements that teach the different attacks and defences using an Iaito. We train in Iaijutsu on Tuesday nights in the MCSDA dojo in Derby.
Jodo is the use of the Jo, or Japanese walking stick, to defend from attacks. Part of this training is the two man kata, where we practice defending against a bokken (wooden training iaito). We train in Jodo on Tuesday nights in the MCSDA dojo in Derby.
